I have a question on a mock paper which I cannot work out. I know the answer to b is 2. The answer to C is -6. But I don't know why. The curve C has equation y=kx^3-x^3+x-5 where k is a constant.
The point A with x co-ordinate -1/2 lies on C. The tangent to C at A is a parallel to the line with equation 2y-7x+1=0.
b. Find k
c. Find the value of the y co-ordinate of A.
I swear to God I will kiss your feet if you can show me the working of b or/and c.
