I've properly visited New York, Florida and Washington DC (I don't really get the latter, whether it's in a state or what state it's in)

I've travelled through New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland and Massachusetts.

Washington DC is neither a state nor inside a state, and is more than a city, it's a federal district by itself falling directly under the federal government.

I've lived in (in the US)...Michigan, Washington, New Jersey, Virginia, California, Alaska, Guam, and I've been to almost every state.
